St. Regis Bora Bora Resort

St. Regis Bora Bora Resort

Posted: January 23, 2022 By //  by WaryTraveler 2 Comments Last Updated: August 25, 2024

The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort is quite possibly heaven on earth. Recently, we spent 5 glorious nights at this resort and are already planning a return trip in the near future. Whether you are looking for a relaxing vacation or wanting to take advantage of the various water activities, this resort is perfect for you.

After landing at the Bora Bora airport, you are greeted by a hotel representative with a fresh flower lei. The boat to take you to the resort will be waiting. After a 20 minute boat ride you will arrive to the resort.

As you approach the dock, your butler will be waiting to welcome you, help you with the check in process and then give you a tour of the resort.

The resort is quite large so to allow you to move around the resort faster, they provide bicycles. Or you can call them to arrange a cart ride for you.

Fun fact: the movie Couples Retreat was filmed in Bora Bora with the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort being the main location. Also, they have a dedicated TV channel where the movie loops 24 hours a day, which we thought was quite funny.

The resort is lush surrounded by turquoise waters and would be the great location for a destination wedding, an elopement or for the perfect honeymoon.

The bungalows

At the St. Regis Bora Bora, there is no traditional hotel block. All the guests stay in their own private bungalow, some over the water and some on land. We stayed in an over the water bungalow and I must say the experience was pretty magical.

The bungalows are very nice and spacious – about 1,550 square feet. There is plenty of space both indoors and out. The ensuite is large with a separate shower and bathtub, two sinks with a large vanity and a walk-in closet.

The bedrooms is also quite large with sliding doors with the best view. There is also a spacious living room with plenty of windows and sliding doors to the terrace.

To be honest, we didn’t spend much time at all in our bungalow. The weather while we were there was fantastic so we took full advantage of the warm and sunny days.

The dining options

The St. Regis Bora Bora has several great restaurants all specializing in different cuisines. So, there is something from everyone.

When booking your stay, if the option is there definitely opt for the dining package. Ours included breakfasts and dinners during our stay.

Breakfast served in the Te Pahu restaurant. During COVID times, it was a la carte, but in regular times buffet style. There are plenty of options and you can get made to order eggs or omelets. The breakfast bread basket is the best. Just thinking of it makes me want to book a return trip.

For lunch, we mostly ate at the Aparima Bar. It’s located between the beach and the pool and has pretty good light meals, tasty snacks and refreshing cocktails. We highly recommend their Pina Coladas.

For dinner, we did try a different restaurant every night. Our favorite meal was at Bam Boo. The food and cocktails were great. And, their desert the Sweetness Maki is particularly memorable.

When you arrive (or even before your stay), work with your butler to make dinner reservations based on your preferences.

Depending on the time of year, there might be some holiday related changes to the restaurant options. The resort is very good at communicating these well in advance and helping you find the best option for you. For Christmas Eve dinner, there were two options: a buffet and a plated meal.

The only restaurant offsite that we did visit was Bloody Mary’s. Since we had purchased the dining package and the food at the resort was great, we did not venture out for any other meals.

Keep in mind that the only way to get to restaurants off resort is by water taxi. Some restaurants do offer their own service, the concierge can arrange one for you if that option isn’t available.

The amenities and activities

The resort offers plenty of activity options. First and foremost, there is the beach. The lagoon water in front of the resort is crystal clear and pretty shallow. If you are into water sports, they have SUP boards, kayaks, snorkel gear, and much more included in the costs of your stay.

If you prefer the pool, there are two main pools – one centrally located and a more private adult only pool.

Interested in snorkeling? The resort’s private Lagoonarium is a protected underwater sanctuary for many species of tropical fish and coral.

If you are looking to keep up with your fitness there is a grass tennis court and a fully equipped gym on resort. We didn’t take advantage of either while there since we were too busy taking advantage of the water activities.

The service

There’s so much to say here, but on a few words they go above an beyond. We are not wealthy and do prioritize experiences when it comes to our spending, and this was service like we had never experienced before.

From the morning coffee service in the morning – simply call and they will deliver coffee, tea or hot chocolate to your bungalow, to ensuring that your room was cleaned while you were otherwise occupied on the resort, everything was perfectly executed.

Daily visits from the butler were go to ask questions, make modifications to reservations or simply learn more about the culture.

Also, the coordination with external vendors is incredible. We had booked tour prior to the trip and they somehow knew about it and made sure to remind us of the pick up time.

The concierge service is great! Next time, we will book all of our adventures through them. They helped us book a private snorkel tour that happened to be one of the greatest adventures of our lives. More about that in future blog post.

When it was time to leave, they checked us in for our flights and provided boarding passes that allowed us to skip the long baggage drop off line at the airport.

As we departed, we asked one of the butlers for a recipe that we liked from one of the restaurants. When we landed, in our inbox was the recipe. Now that is great service!
