Cool Milkshakes Downtown Calgary

Milkshakes downtown Calgary?  Yes, it’s true! Regrub is burger joint serving really cool milkshakes in downtown Calgary. We had been drooling over the pics of all of their insta-worthy food for a few weeks.  So, we finally decided that it was time to try it out.  Be prepared with the fact that you will be consuming a few days’ worth of fat and calories in one meal. But, that needs to happen once in a while.  Right!?

The place is pretty small and seating is limited.  We dropped by around noon on a Saturday and it got quite busy.  It seemed to be a popular place for families with little ones.

After taking a few minutes to look at the menu, we landed on some food.  We ordered, a Cookie Monster milkshake, a MINTtobe hot chocolate, a Recession burger, a Eureka burger and some asiago truffle fries. Don’t judge – we did it for the blog, I swear.

As a general rule, we only write about places and activities that we would happily go back again. Regrub is our first (and hopefully only) exception to this. The service was a bit slow, and the staff seems a bit confused at times. Be prepared to wait a bit more than you normally would for fast food, but we feel like despite the almost painfully slow and confusing service setup, it is worth the wait. The burgers were good.  The buns are made in-house and were fresh and the fries are intensely addicting!  They appeared to be hand cut and loaded with asiago cheese and truffle oil. Tough to go wrong with that.

The milkshake was REALLY good!  What’s not to love about an Oreo milkshake, topped with a whole doughnut, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and more Oreos?  While sitting there, we did get to see what others had ordered and they all looked great.  One of them even had a full slice of cheesecake!

The hot chocolate was super good, but super rich.  The one that we had was made with cream and very dark chocolate. Probably the best tasting hot chocolate we’ve ever tried.

We weren’t able to finish all that food, it was way too much. But, we wanted to try a few different things.  It is definitely too rich to go often, but a great place to check out since it is pretty unique compared to everything else in town.

Eau Claire Distillery is a young distillery Turner Valley, Alberta. Their biggest claim to fame is that they had pre-sold the entire first run of its single-malt whisky. The article was discussing the comeback of Canadian whisky, which no doubt helped promote the brand.  Their…

Honu is our go-to place on Maui for a sunset dinner.
