Located in the heart of downtown the Terrace Grill Bar Harbor is sure to exceed your expectations. Since there is a perfect view of the harbor, experienced staff, and well prepared dishes, we believe that this is the best value for your money in all of Bar Harbor.
In all honesty, we had done little research about where to eat in Bar Harbor before arriving. Our drive in took us longer than planned so we were hungry and tired when we arrived. After a quick search, we decided to try our luck walking up for patio seating right at dinner time. The hostess seated us immediately with a front row view of the incredible yachts and sailboats that were docked.
In the event of a line up, they have seats surrounding two fire pits for you to enjoy a drink while you wait. This is a great place to sit while the sun goes down and is away from the crowds of Bar Harbor. We recommend the Gin Smash. For those wanting something non-alcoholic, we recommend the Maine Blue Berry Mojito Mocktail.
Our server was extremely helpful in guiding us to the appropriate amount of food since we weren’t sure what to order. We each got a salad, a Cesar and the other the field greens. In previous posts we have referred to the best salad we have ever had. The field green salad with house dressing is a very close second which was the primary reason we went back for lunch the next day. Seriously, amazing. In the land of fried foods, your body will crave this healthy treat.
Wary Travelers Tip:
Split the Lobster Bake. This was more than enough food for us both to share and came with blueberry pie as a dessert. For $39 for both of us we found this to be not only delicious but the best value for your money in Bar Harbor. It includes clam chowder, clams, mussels, lobster, corn, potatoes and blueberry pie.
On our second day, after hiking around Jordon’s Pond, we worked up a sizable appetite and wanted something a little healthier. Insert the salad craving here! We returned for lunch, where we both enjoyed the field greens, the crab quesadilla and the margarita flatbread. The crab quesadilla is one of the dishes they are most known for. If you like crab this is going to be your jam! It is packed with crab, cooked perfectly, and served with homemade pico and guacamole.
We think the Terrace Grill Bar Harbor is the best quality, service and price combination of any place you can eat on the island. It also has one of the largest patios and easily the best view on the island. There is no indoor seating here! Nothing against the other places in town, but there are a lot of old buildings that get hot and stuffy, with no view.
