Best Salad Maui has to offer

*** We are heartbroken about the recent devastation caused by the wild fires. Over the years we have spent many hours in Lahaina, the memories will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Maui. Please support if you can. ***

Known for their great pizza, local ingredients and friendly staff, we love the Flatbread Company on Maui.  And, believe it or not, we think that they have the best salad Maui has to offer. We hit this place up for lunch every time we are on Maui. And, it usually happens more than once.

Located in the funky town of Paia, right on the Hana Highway, it is easy to find.  Here’s a tip, it’s perfect for stopping for some much needed food after a long day spent driving the Road to Hana. They don’t take reservations. So sometimes, there is a bit of a wait for a table. They have benches out front to sit while you wait.  Plus, Paia has a lot of things to see to keep you occupied.

The Flatbread Company uses only the highest quality ingredients, sourced from local farmers and producers on their wood fired pizzas.  Their menu staples include pies with interesting topping combinations along with some interesting daily features.  Our favorites are the Pa’ia Bay Ohana (caramelized organic onions, white mushrooms, mozzarella and parmesan cheese) and the Mopsy’s Kalua Pork (Kiawe smoked free-range pork shoulder, homemade organic mango BBQ sauce, organic red onions, Maui pineapple, goat cheeses). Can’t decide? They have that covered too – you can get a half and half pizza (pictured below).  Can you say marriage saver!?

Even if you aren’t a salad lover, get the Organic Salad. This has been rumored to convert even the hardiest meat eater to a vegetarian. It’s that good. Seriously. They use local organic lettuce and vegetables, topped with a homemade Maui Pineapple salad dressing that tastes more like magic than a salad dressing. Many have tried to get this recipe, but to no avail. It is a highly guarded secret. Give it a taste and you will see why. Do not share this salad. Get your own and treat yourself to the local organic goat cheese add-on. Best $3 you will ever spend.

Also, the Flatbread Company has a great selection of local Kombucha, Maui Root beer, delicious lemonade and of course some local beers to wash down the pizza.  Definitely, this is the go to pizza salad place on Maui!
