LA Jackson is an awesome rooftop bar in the Thompson Hotel in The Gulch area of Nashville. The Gulch is a popular neighborhood located between downtown and Music Row. It’s full of trendy restaurants, bars and hotels. I’m not going to lie, we only headed to LA Jackson because of an Instagram pic of their shareable cocktails that we came across.
We headed to the rooftop bar around 7 pm on a warm Friday evening and it was packed. It took a few minutes, but we did manage to find some seating and settled in for a while. Rooftop bars appear to be all the rage in Nashville, however this place in particular has incredible views of Downtown Nashville. And, we were treated to a beautiful sunset.
The Drinks
We ordered the shareable Not 2 Sweet. It’s made with pickers vodka, cocchi Americano, Aperol, strawberry, lemon and Prosecco. The price is a bit steep at $100 and they say that they will only serve it if there are 6 people or more in your party… we may have recruited some folks sitting near by!
All of their signature cocktails are light and refreshing drinks. Other than their shareable they have many tasty sounding cocktails and they even offer some frozen ones. What’s better on a warm evening than an adult slushie? Their beer selections are all southern breweries. They also offer an extensive wine by the glass selection.
The Food
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a meal there but the food did look very good. The menu focuses southern food, with the focus on small plates, snacks and cast iron dishes. We had just had dinner elsewhere but we did share an ice cream sandwich and it was a great sweet treat. We opted for the Drop the Mic. The cookies were particularly good. A couple sitting next to us ordered the Garlic Fries and looked really good too. It seemed to be a pretty big portion and perfect for sharing.
Wary Travelers Tip:
For those of you heading to Nashville, for a bachelor or bachelorette weekend looking for something a little tamer and classier, L.A. Jackson would be a perfect stop. There can’t be many nicer places in Nashville to spend and evening with friends, especially if the weather is cooperating.
In summary, with a great ambiance and tasty drinks, LA Jackson’s Rooftop Bar is definitely a winner!
